In our guests' own words.
A handful of recent notes from diners who've spent an evening — or a long Sunday lunch — with us.
One of the loveliest evenings we've had out in a long time. The hake was cooked beautifully and our server clearly knew the wine list inside out. It felt special without being fussy.
We stopped in for Sunday lunch after a walk up Catbells and honestly didn't want to leave. The beef was exceptional and the room has such a warm, easy feel to it.
The tasting menu was a proper treat. Every course felt considered and the pairings were spot on. You can tell the kitchen really cares about the produce.
Popped in for a couple of cocktails and ended up staying for supper. The bar snacks alone are worth the trip — the sourdough with cultured butter is dangerous.
A really genuine welcome. My mum has coeliac disease and they took the time to talk her through the menu properly. Small thing, but it made her whole evening.
Beautifully understated. No unnecessary theatre — just very good cooking, thoughtful service and a room that makes you want to linger over another glass.

We'd love to have you at the table.
Reservations are recommended, especially for Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunch. Walk-ins are always welcome at the bar.
